The 3-Point King

Who is Jayson Tatum? Why is he, in the eyes of a lot of sports fanatics, the G.O.A.T?

Jayson Tatum has emerged and built a legacy as one of the NBA's premier talents. After a standout and some would say unforgettable freshman season at Duke University, he was selected third overall by the Boston Celtics in the 2017 NBA Draft. Since then, Tatum has become the cornerstone of the Celtics franchise.

Tatum is a six-time NBA All-Star and five-time All-NBA selection, including four First Team honors. Tatum led the Celtics to their record-breaking 18th NBA championship in 2024, surpassing one of the other big named teams in the league the Los Angeles
Lakers for the most titles in league history.

In the 2024 NBA Finals, he averaged 22.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game. Jayson Tatum holds several notable and again unforgettable records, including the most points scored in an NBA All-Star Game (55) and the highest-scoring Game 7 in NBA playoff history (51 points). He also secured Olympic gold medals with Team USA in both the 2020 and 2024 Games.

In July 2024, Tatum signed a record-breaking five-year, $314 million super-max extension with the Celtics which at the time it was the largest deal in NBA history then came in with his team mate Jaylen Brown who holds another super-max extension deal.

Despite the setbacks within his professional NBA career, Jayson Tatum's impact on the Celtics and the NBA remains profound, solidifying his status as one of basketball's elite players.
