Rise Up Report

The Practice that Sealed Walker's Fate

A week before the 2025 NFL Draft, the Falcons sent coaches and scouts across the state to Athens to watch a more private practice at the Bulldogs. It was there and then that they decided Jalon Walker was an absolute no-brainer if he fell to them at 15th pick. As a Bulldogs fan, I also had my hopes up that we would secure the explosive defensive end. Falcons scout stated "Wow! Jalon is a grand slam for us." and the sentiment seems to be widely shared amongst the scouts and coaches alike.

One to Watch

Headed towards his 7th NFL season, 3rd with the Falcons, Kaden Elliss is a powerhouse to keep an eye on. It is no secret that the Falcons defense has been somewhat lacking for the last few seasons but now, there is hope that all of that could change. Elliss grew up as one of 12 siblings and has spoken recently about some advice he was given - always remember football is a kids game, enjoy it. He fondly reflected on his childhood football challenges where he would play 2 vs 2 games with his brothers. The defensive end has had a record breaking season last year with the Falcons as he is the only Falcons player to record 100 tackles, 5 sacks and 1 interception in one season.

Anderson is Absent

A key starter has missed the majority of the team training sessions leading to speculation that he could be on the chopping block ahead of the season. Troy Anderson has been no stranger to injuries in his career at the Falcons and has struggled to stay healthy. As a result, the team signed Divine Deablo in free agency as another potential linebacker. Head coach, Raheem Morris has said that Deablo has made a huge impression so far in training. "His athleticism stand out. It's been unique. His length stands out which has been unique. And really him keying and diagnosing behind the ball probably a lot better than we thought." But with that being said, no reason was given by Morris for Anderson's absence, only stating that Morgan Fox was the only player who had been excused from attending. Anderson enters the final year of his contract with the Falcons but may well not make it that far.
