Rise Up Report

Tight Ends Tighten Up

A major issue last season for us was the issue of the tight ends. Kyle Pitts had a slump and was missing the fire we saw in his rookie season. He scored a career best 4 touchdowns and had moments where we saw his elite skill level, but more often than not, there was a lot to be desired from his performance.

News from training camp this week is that if we don't see a drastic improvement from Pitts, he won't have a future beyond the 2025 season in Atlanta.

Asked about the tight end, Zac Robinson said "I am expecting Kyle to take a big jump in Year 2 of the system, Year 2 of understanding what we are trying to do offensively, all those things that come with it. So, expecting a lot of good things from Kyle."

This sets clear expectations on Kyle Pitts and ones that fans and his teammates can all agree are going to be necessary for the continuing improvement of the team.

Electifying Rookie

In the build up to the draft, there was a lot of negative chatter around Edge James Pearce Jr and his 'character concerns' with one scout deeming him "uncoachable" and as having the worst character report across all draft prospects. These rumours were quickly dispelled by head coach, Raheem Morris, who has since released a statement to the effect that he has absolutely loved working with JPJ.

In recent mini camp activities, the rookie has been turning heads with his electrifying plays and proving himself to be one to watch next season. It is no secret that the Falcons desperately needed a complete overhaul after last season and the more we are hearing of the defensive rookies in camp, the more promising it looks that this season may well finally see the team come together.
