Pacers Lead

An explosive end to game 1 of the finals lead to a narrow win for the Pacers against the Thunder. With a mind-blowing 3 point shot scored with 0.3 seconds left on the clock, Tyrese Haliburton is the hero of the first game. The game ended with the Pacers taking the early lead in the series with a score of 111-110. Game 2 is played on today with hopes high that the Pacers' new style of defense is going to be key to an NBA championship.  

Knicks Fire Thibodeau

Arguably one of the most successful Knicks coaches in years, Tom Thibodeau has been fired this week. A statement released by the club explained "Our organisation is singularly focused on winning a championship for our fans" which has not been the case while Thibodeau has headed up the team despite four playoff seasons. It has been 52 years since the Knicks have been able to deliver that Championship to fans and they feel it is time for a change. With no successor in place as yet, the team have requested permission to interview Jason Kidd, current head coach of the Dallas Mavericks. 

Step Up for Ott

In a step up from Assistant Coach to Head Coach, Jordan Ott has left his position with the Cleveland Cavaliers to join forces with the Phoenix Suns. The situation at the Suns is precarious. Ott is the third head coach in as many seasons and consecutive early play off exit seasons. It is a very difficult time to take over the Suns who are lacking a sense of identity and belonging currently. However, Ott claims to have a solid plan ready to change the franchise into one where everyone works steadfastly every day to deliver that quality on the court that the fans deserve.

NBA in Europe?

Finally this week, Adam Silver, NBA Commissioner, has stated that talks are continuing to head in a positive direction with regards to a European league being added to the NBA. He has stated that the potential league is still a minimum of a couple of years away. This is an exciting development for basketball fans like me who usually have to choose between sleep and the game. I predict updates on this front may be slow for now but at least that progress is underway.
