Rants, Rookies and Criminals

Rodgers' Run Game Rants

Aaron Rodgers is the last player we could ever call quiet, shy or reserved but this week his outspoken antics have raised eyebrows once more. It has been no secret that Rodgers was not happy with the way things were going at the Jets during his tenure as QB1. In a podcast interview with Mark Schlereth, he is said to have gone on a 25-minute rant about the run game at the New York Jets.

It could be an interesting match up when he faces them in week 1 as they have made it known that they intend to run the ball as much as possible next season.

Texans Sign Arnette

Disgraced CB, Damon Arnette, has signed to the Houston Texans following his time at the UFL's Houston Roughnecks and a successful 2025 season there. Arnette is a former first round pick of the NFL but was released by the Raiders in 2021 following criminal allegations off the field. These incidents were serious and videos of him threatening someone's life and brandishing a weapon went viral at the time.

He joined the Chiefs' practice squad in 2022 but was released after being arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.

This addition to Houston draws up the age old question as to whether players deserve the opportunity to play following serious criminal charges. There is an ongoing discussion about the fact that these players are supposed role models and are given once in a lifetime opportunities to play football at the highest level.

Jaguars Rookie Deal

After trading up to get Travis Hunter in the draft, the Jags have ensured they seal the deal with him. The double threat rookie has signed his 4 year rookie deal worth $46,649,114. The newest star in Jaxsonville will have all eyes on him as he enters his first season.
